At Jasper Challenge Heikki's ”Läski” (Fatty) finally proved his ability to proceed in spite of claims that he would simply use his super size and settle down in first nice looking spawning ground near the see. The somewhat teddy bear looking fish won the day and took the lead in the overall score at once, after swimming handsome 1600 meters.
Kimi, considered to be the undisputed winner candidate until today, did not have a day of his life.
The Fishy Flash rocketed forth and back, with modest daily accomplishment of 100 meters upstream. Runner up of the race, Chisu's Queen, took silver also on Sunday's leg, as she usually does. Jasper's Koskinen has begun to understand what the rivers are for, as he took bronze when speeding up towards the spawning grounds of central Kymi.
In Kymenlaakso GP Nadja won the day, after a good swim of nearly a kilometer, whereas both Ritu and Venny kept banging their heads to the dam of the Koivukoski power plant, still trying to solve the puzzle of the fishway.
Maybe they should have followed the example of the milestone setting Viimenen Lohikaani (The Last Salmochan), who cleared the fishway of the Koivukoski dam, which has been considered to be nearly impossible hindrance, blocking the fishes away from the upper spawning areas of the River.
Players, who set their stakes on the record breaker, were awarded with both bonus points for 1600 meters rise, and the extras for surviving the fishway.
Toivo (”Hope”) of the Tories performed outstandingly and ended, as predicted by the analysts, second on Sunday, after hastening 1100 meters upstream. As the mediocre fishes of the race cruised up and down the lowest rapids, Social Democrat's Teko (”Deed”) is still having severe problems in orientation, evading the lures of the fishermen at Korkeakoski, an other rapid just 5 km east from the track of the GP.
Nobody still knows, were Paavo is.
